Stirling Highland Games was shortlisted earlier this year in the iGap travel guide awards and can now announce that our event was selected by the Judging panel as the winner of the Community Sports Event of the Year – United Kingdom category.
The Stirling Highland Games President Matt McGrandles said, “It was fantastic news to receive from Timothy, as we continue to welcome students from all over Europe on their gap year to Stirling. The opportunity for them to be part of the volunteer team, gain experience and develop their skills is of benefit to both us as well as them. The students that just wish to experience our highland games as a visitor benefit from our low-cost entry tickets and the feedback we get is most welcome.”
In 2018, the organisation introduced their iGap Travel magazine which is packed with plenty of budget-busting, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, that will give students plenty of inspiration to visit this year. Their specialised travel team share their recommendations to help students plan and prepare for their trip. The iGap team love to highlight the smaller, independent businesses that are extremely successful and hard-working on a local level and those that they believe students will be most attracted to.
The nominations that are submitted forward may be from previous customers and the general public for the chosen category and once the allocation of nominations is met, all businesses within that particular category are then passed onto their panel of industry expert judges who will then ultimately pick a winner.
The iGap representative added, “It was a pleasure speaking with Matt today and being able to share the great news! I hope this award is the first of many for his organisation, as what they provide is amazing and looks super fun I must admit. Keep up the quality work as it hasn’t gone unnoticed by us over here!”
