Stirling Highland Games was at this mornings launch of Stirling Monopoly.
An official MONOPOLY edition for Stirling has been launched at a high profile ceremony this morning at Stirling Castle … on the same day the much-anticipated game hits shop shelves.
The special edition sees 34 leading Stirling landmarks replacing the famous London MONOPOLY addresses like Mayfair and Park Lane with Stirling Castle tbeing revealed as landing on the top Mayfair space.
At this morning’s launch event at the Castle it was also announced there is not one but TWO jails! That’s because the very OLD Stirling Old Town Jail lands on the OLD Kent Road location. In all more than 30 Stirling locations and landmarks land on their very own piece of prime Stirling MONOPOLY estate.
Games Organiser Matt McGrandles said, “When we were nominated earlier this year, I just felt it was a great reflection of the hard work and efforts my whole team have put in since taking over in 2014. We are still very much looking to grow the Stirling Highland Games event and can only do that with the fantastic support from our Partners. With their support, the event has continued to grow annually and as such Stirling benefits from the 40% of overseas visitors coming to the area; it contributes £378,000 to the Stirling economy; and we are able to offer young people the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience within the events sector. We really are delighted to step up and be part of this great opportunity.”
Very many of the Chance and Community Chest are customised too with our own Community Chest themed card giving players M200 for being selected at the Stirling Highland Games Chieftain. Another rewards players with the ‘Freedom of the City of Stirling’ – just like Stirling’s home-grown tennis superstar Andy Murray.
One card has even been devised by a 13-year-old MONOPOLY “fanatic”, who attended the launch with her proud family. She is Mary Peck from Stirling – a true ‘Mary Queen of Scots’.
Emma Lodwick, CUSTOM GAMES EXECUTIVE at WINNING MOVES UK – makers of this version of MONOPOLY under official license from MONOPOLY owners Hasbro – says: “The game is a celebration of – and a love letter to – Stirling.
The game is available now to buy via our site or at outlets in Stirling such as Argos, Toy Hub, Waterstones, WH Smith and The Works.
