This year Stirling Highland Games applied to the Waitrose Stirling community matters fund in the hope we could secure part of the £1000 monthly fund to aid in the purchase of new cabers for our Heavyweights event.
Matt McGrandles, Games Organiser was delighted to receive a cheque for £300 to go towards the purchase of new cabers. He said, ‘we unfortunatly lost both our cabers at last years event so had to look at replacing them as without them we dont have a tossing the caber event. I want to offer my thanks to the local people of Stirling who voted for us in July and also to the Community Matters team at Waitrose Stirling for this opportunity.’
Tossing the Caber is one of the most anticipated events at any highland games and always attracts a large crowd. This year Stirling Highland Games Heavyweights competitors included national Champions who competed for the inaugural Specsavers Cup.
Stirling Highland Games 2017 is on Saturday 19th August.
